New for 2026, Paint by Chords invites you to a unique music & art experience - a live podcast recording where you are invited to a live music performance, whilst putting brush to canvas. Materials & canvases are provided.
Picture it. A musician performs a live acoustic set, and you are given a canvas and materials (acrylic, watercolour, oil pastels, markers, brushes, and palettes). It's up to you how you respond to the music; let the vibe take over and be inspired.
We'll then share and discuss the stories and influences behind your paintings, which are recorded for an episode of the ArtyParti podcast (mixed into a rich audiophonic listen).
Rinse and repeat; another acoustic set, another canvas, then another discussion.
It'll be a fun and chilled event to enjoy being inspired by music,
and to make connections with other artists & creatives in the city.
Paint By Chords is for anyone, regardless of experience - whether you're an established artist who wants to test out a different environment, or whether you've no art experience and you're looking for a unique way to spend an evening.
You are welcome to bring your own materials if you would prefer; but your ticket costs includes two canvases and various options.
Feedback from our previous Paint By Chords:
Helen Wardropper: “Really allows time for thought, self reflection and connection with others, whilst enjoying a music and art masterpiece. ArtyParti at its best!"
Danielle Chamberlin: "Both inspiring and deeply relaxing. The whole experience had a wonderfully chilled, almost zen-like atmosphere, allowing us to let go of expectations and simply respond to the music. My brush strokes became more fluid & expressive, and I loved seeing how the sounds naturally guided the movement, colours, & mood of my painting. It was a truly beneficial and uplifting experience that I would happily recommend."
Karen Sikora: “Lovely atmosphere, relaxing and intricate music, good choice of art materials - lends itself well to mark-making."
Clair Prince: "These events feel like such a treat! Having time to spend on painting, and materials provided, AND someone playing music? Lovely."
Stephanie Smith: "Such a refreshing change. I let the music wash over me, and absorb it before I put tool to substrate. Louis playing and the range of materials provided were excellent. It was a really incredible evening and I would definitely go again.”
