About Carolina Rosas
“I'm Carolina Rosas, a mixed media artist based in Newcastle, originally from Mexico City. I work mostly in oil and acrylic, building up colour, layers and texture until a painting starts to feel right. A lot of my work begins with places that have stayed with me, and what they came to hold at the time.
“I'm interested in that strange way a place can become tied to a person, a memory, or a particular feeling, and how we carry those things with us long after we've left. This November I'm showing a new collection of landscape paintings at BottleWorks in Byker.”
Pause & Paint
“Alongside my own practice, I run Pause & Paint, artist-led mindful painting sessions in Newcastle.
“They're really about giving yourself a little space to make something without having to be good at it or know where it's going. Painting has always given me that feeling of slowing down and disappearing into what I'm doing for a while, long before it became my work.
“Pause & Paint came from wanting to share a bit of that feeling with other people.
